Imprimé à Venise le 1er juin 1509, richement illustré, il est devenu l’un des plus célèbres livres du monde. Cinquante-neuf des dessins qui y sont présentés sont de la main de Léonard de Vinci, et l’impression a été réalisée de son vivant.

De Divine Proportione est la toute première édition imprimée d’œuvres picturales de Léonard de Vinci. L’intégralité du texte a été rédigée par le moine franciscain et mathématicien italien Luca Pacioli (1445-1517), son ami de nombreuses années. L’objectif de Pacioli et de de Vinci, en faisant publier ce traité, était de décrire le monde selon les termes de ses éléments géométriques communs, c’est-à-dire la Divine proportion, également appelée Nombre d’or. Même la mise en page, que l’on peut juger aujourd’hui curieuse, Pacioli et de Vinci l’ont établie selon un tracé géométrique respectant scrupuleusement la divine proportion. Mais ils n’ont fait que rédiger un traité parlant d’une proportion qui rendrait toute chose harmonieuse, qui avait précédemment été décrite par Platon, Euclide et Vitruve.

On ignore combien d’exemplaires de De Divina Proportione furent imprimés à Venise. Le premier des deux seuls exemplaires connus aujourd’hui est à la Biblioteca Ambrosiana de Milan. Le second est conservé à la Bibliothèque publique et universitaire de Genève. Cependant, d’autres éditions, dont de nombreuses traductions, furent imprimées à partir des années 1520. Mais aucune de ces dernières ne fut jamais aussi belle que l’original.
De Divina Proportione est aujourd’hui considéré par les spécialistes de la Renaissance comme la théorie de la croisée entre les sciences et l’art de cette période, avec l’engagement actif de son plus grand génie, Léonard de Vinci.

Le format original de ses pages est 29,25 cm par 19,25, c’est-à-dire légèrement plus grand que la taille présentée dans cette édition.

I have read a few books, dale carnigie, van fleet, and accidentally stumbled on this. I have know idea why more people or search s don't mention this guy, he is outstanding. Easy to read, easy to follow his thought process, no fluff, all meat and potatoes - every sentence has alot of meaning. Don't let the publication date scare you, its the most current up date book on the market. I accidently found this through a amazon recommendation and bought it because it was cheap. I just read, and reread, helping at work alot.

This is based on the book, but not the better version that I got at Audible. The book is excellent and wears well with time. People's nature really doesn't change with time. People are mostly interested in themselves. People want things. The things they want may change, but not the needs they are trying to satisfy.The book is five star, the Audible longer and different version is better than this one, but even with outdated examples you will find this version helpful if you are knew to the book.

I love the fact that he considers this book unfinished unless we apply these principles of dealing with people to our own accord by writing it down. He even give us a guided worksheet at the end to write down what improvements need to be made on a weekly basis. It is a timeless book. I love it

The basic principles this book explains are timeless and foundational to working with people. Anyone who has to interact with people will find value in this book. Having the knowledge of how to interact with people is only half the battle. Executing these principles is a challenge in itself.The language is a little bit outdated and brings you back to a time without the high pace of technologically enabled communication that we have today, but the underlying principles of human nature remain unchanged. This is an easy read and worth the money, especially if you can find a used copy.

Excellent book. I now have my 13 year old reading it and he thinks it is awesome. His exact words were "This is going to be very useful for me. I didn't think I'd like this but this is good stuff!". lol Def a must read if you are trying to improve any area of your life.

If you've read Carnegie, then this book will serve as either (i) a stimulating refresher, or (ii) merely a supplement to the archetype. Some good factoids and anecdotes throughout, but also occasional disagreements with Carnegie that were never fleshed out (I understand, given the date of publication, it's a moot point, but one that nevertheless left me wanting more). Overall, a quick read that's worth your time, but I will always be going back to Carnegie's edition in a crisis.

Appreciation, which really means to raise in Value, not lower in value. People Act or Fail to act, to enhance their EGO.In Chapter 6 he writes about a cure for incorrigible children. This whole book is just fantastic as you can see from the reviews. I have read and reread this book over and over and have bought this book over and over to give to friends and relatives. Didn't find this as informative as I hoped. Rather confusing and the worked examples felt incomplete leaving more questions than answers. Also have the Oracle authored book which I haven't yet read but hope its more fluid and informative.
